A Home Full of Imagination in Newcastle
Live Local
Aashna Garg and Jigar Surana made two cups of coffee and sat at their spacious, bright kitchen island to play a tabletop game. They unpacked the blank board and arranged the game’s colorful dice in a grid to create a small stained-glass window.
It’s the same kind of imagination they used in Tri Pointe Homes’ Design Studio to create their new home in Newcastle.
“It was just an empty lot in the beginning,” Aashna said. “Choosing each and every piece was so special for us as newlyweds – now that we’re living here, we get to show everyone each color and tile we picked out, which makes it so much more special.”

The young couple was not looking for a townhome in the beginning. However, after nearly seven months of house hunting without finding a home that they agreed on, they set up an appointment with Tri Pointe Homes and learned about the options to personalize their home and the benefits of low-maintenance townhome living.
Several of their friends recommended Tri Pointe Homes. “We had six or seven people in our friend group recommend Tri Pointe,” said Aashna. “They had a great reputation, great designs, and great in-home tech options, where almost everything in the house can be automated and hooked up to a virtual assistant.”
Twenty-five windows bring in lots of natural light that shines on the modern white finishes throughout the home. With a love of clean, modern lines and a bit of their own creativity, Aashna and Jigar put thought into every detail – from designing the layout of their closet to choosing each piece of furniture.
The greenbelt behind their home is visible from the windows in the living room and primary bedroom. The moss-covered trees peek through to give Aashna and Jigar privacy and their own special slice of the forest where they enjoy runs and daily morning walks. Everything else is close by too, including restaurants and shops just within walking distance.

“When we were buying the house, we were thinking about our parents, who visit us from India every year,” Aashna said. “They are used to community-style living, where you can go to the markets down the street, and interact with everyone around you, and that’s what you get living here in Newcastle.”
For Aashna and Jigar, Newcastle has it all: An easy commute to their tech jobs, great access to schools, and good neighbors. As the world begins to open up again, game play will certainly include many friends.
